Meet Our Staff
All of our staff are CPR/First Aid certified and Epi-Pen trained every year.
Karen
Karen is one of the owners and directors of Monroe Summer Day Camp. She worked in a neighboring school district for 17 years and raised two daughters in Monroe, with her husband. She now works as a preschool teacher during the school year. Karen has always had a love for working with children, which eventually led her to the decision to open MSDC. She is on site daily, greeting campers and handling most face to face interactions. She is there to make sure our campers have fun and the day runs smoothly.
Abby
Abby is a counselor and assistant director of Monroe Summer Day Camp. Abby has been working with Karen and Krissy for over 10 years and has been at MSDC since it opened. She has a bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education and is currently an integrated preschool teacher. Abby is passionate about teaching and loves working with children year round!
Grace
Grace has been a part of MSDC for the past two summers as a CIT and loves spending her summers at camp! She plays softball and dances, and she will be a junior at Masuk High School in the fall. She loves going to the beach and spending time with friends and family. Grace is excited for her first summer being a counselor at camp!
Alex
Alex is a rising senior at Masuk High School, where he is involved in the Masuk band. He has been with Monroe Summer Day Camp as a camper for 8 years, a CIT for 1 year, and is excited to be entering his third year as a counselor. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing with friends.
Olivia
Olivia is finishing up her freshman year at Southern Connecticut State University. She is so excited to be a counselor this summer and help create a fun and positive environment for campers. She is looking forward to a great summer at camp! She enjoys spending time outdoors, trying new activities, and can’t wait to get involved with everything at camp.
Tyler
Tyler is a rising sophomore at Sacred Heart University, where he is studying Political Science and Pre-Law. This will be his 5th year at MSDC, having worked as a CIT for two years and now entering his third year as a counselor. He is excited to return for another summer and have a blast!
Ella
Ella is an upcoming senior at Newtown High School and is entering her second year as a counselor, but fourth summer at MSDC! She loves being apart of MSDC and it is the highlight of her summer! Throughout the year, she plays tennis, babysits, and works at a dress store, Sabrina Styles! She is passionate about working with and helping kids, as she hopes to study Early Childhood Development in college! She is so excited to see returning and meet new counselors and kids at camp this summer!
Emily
Emily is a rising senior at Emmanuel College in Boston and is studying elementary education. She has previous experience working with kids through after school programs and babysitting. This will be her first summer with MSDC and she is really looking forward to a fun summer!
Julia
Julia is a rising senior at Masuk High School. She worked as a CIT last summer and is eager to start her first year as a counselor at MSDC. During the summertime, she enjoys spending time with her friends, traveling, and tanning at the beach. She can't wait to have another amazing summer with all the campers!
Krissy
Krissy is a one of the owners and directors of Monroe Summer Day Camp. She has a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a masters degree in early childhood special education. Krissy is currently a second grade teacher in a neighboring school district, and also keeps busy with her three daughters. She handles all of the “behind the scenes” of camp, and will also be on site periodically throughout the summer.
Alyssa
Alyssa is a recent graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, where she earned her degree in Elementary Education. She loves spending time with kids, especially during the summer, when she can play games, do crafts, and just have fun with them. This will be Alyssa’s sixth summer with MSDC as a group counselor and her third summer as Assistant Director. She’s excited to be back and make more great memories with the kids!
Jonathan
Jonathan is so excited to be returning to MSDC! He is a graduating senior at the University of Connecticut. He can not wait for the summer to begin so he can meet all the campers and have another great camp season!
Meghan
Meghan a rising junior at Roger Williams University studying Elementary Education. She loves to travel, do all things outdoorsy, hangout with friends, and try new things. She has past experience working at summer camps, as well as student teaching, and babysitting. This will be her first year working at MSDC and she can't wait to meet all the campers!
Nic
Nic is a senior at Quinnipiac University in the 4+1 MAT in Elementary Education. This is his third year as a gym counselor at MSDC. He can’t wait to see everyone and have an amazing summer of gym!
Sarah
Sarah is a rising junior at Clemson University, majoring in nursing. She loves working with kids and hopes to become a pediatric nurse in the future. In her free time, she enjoys staying active and spending time with friends. This will be her second summer as a counselor at MSDC, and she can't wait to have a fun summer with both new and familiar faces!
Patrick
Patrick is a rising sophomore at Xavier University in Cincinnati, majoring in business administration. Patrick has experience working with kids at Sky Zone, babysitting, volunteering with Trumbull Youth Lacrosse, and with the local pediatric cancer charity, Ryan’s Rebels. He loves lacrosse, pickleball, and traveling, especially visiting his family in Australia. This will be his first summer working as a camp counselor at MSDC and he can’t wait to get to know the campers!
Libby
Libby is a rising junior at George Washington University in DC, where she is studying public health and psychology on the pre-health track. Libby is passionate about working with kids, as she hopes to work in pediatric medicine in the future. She enjoys spending time with her friends and playing pickleball! This will be Libby’s second year at MSDC and she can’t wait for another great summer!
